We are pleased to announce that Nancy Simet will be teaching classes this fall at Three Oaks Knits!  Nancy has recently completed The TKGA Master Knitting ProgramĀ© and she has years of professional teaching experience as a chemistry instructor at the University of Northern Iowa.

We have also rearranged the shop to provide some classroom space separate from the noise of the shop and the knitting group table.

We give a 20% discount on materials for the classes you take at Three Oaks Knits.   Reserve your seat ahead of time.  Classes may be rescheduled or cancelled in case of inclement weather, or in case 3 or fewer people sign up.  Please be sure that we have a way to contact you.  Reminders and announcements will also be posted to Three Oaks Knits Facebook page.

Instructor: Nancy Simet
Difficulty Level: Advanced
Description: Never have second sock syndrome again! Knit - and finish - both socks at the same time, ensuring that they are identical. We'll knit a child-sized pair in worsted weight yarn to learn basic toe-up knitting on a long circular needle in magic loop. You will need to have already knit a sock in order to understand the basic techniques used.
Bring to the first class:
-Needles: US size 7 or 8, 40"or 47" circular needle
-Yarn: Worsted weight, one skein wound into two balls. Light colors make it much easier to see your stitches. If you wish, you can make each sock a different color (some find it easier to keep track this way the first time). Use a machine-washable fiber if you intend to give the finished pair to a child to wear.
- Pattern: A handout will be given in class. For more detailed instructions with illustrations, as well as sock patterns using this technique, I recommend Melissa Morgan-Oakes' book Toe-Up-2-At-A-Time Socks. -Tapestry needle 8 seats available. Class will be cancelled or rescheduled if fewer than 3 people sign up.
Saturdays, December 3, 10 and sometime around the 17th. 1:00-3:00PM Instructor: Nancy Simet Difficulty Level: Beginner. You should be able to knit, purl, cast on and bind off. I will teach you the other techniques you need. - US Size 4 Double-Pointed Needles, or the size you need to get 6 stitches per inch
- Yarn: One skein (about 220 yards) of worsted weight yarn. Can be solid, striped, variegated, whatever! Just keep in mind that lighter colors make it easier to see your stitches. You can add in stripes of other colors if you wish.
- Ruler or tape measure, tapestry needle, stitch markers, cable needle, small stitch holder or short piece of contrasting waste yarn
